48" Pink Circle

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2024

As often happens in my larger canvases, smaller paintings emerge. I wanted to unify the quadrants by using the pink circle to touch each. The vortex indicates the endless opportunities art sucks you in.

Black & White Pool Sweep

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2020

The initial markings I make on a new canvas help to guide the direction I take. The contrast of the black and white against the vivid background, helps to lead the viewer on a lively journey from start to finish, much like a board game with stops along the way.

Old San Francisco

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2019

As a kid going into the big city of San Francisco with my family was so exciting. Driving down Lombard Street with all its switchbacks was both scary and exhilarating. And the views! Oh, the views!

Old San Francisco Series 1

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2023

The unmatched charm of the beautiful Victorian homes in San Francisco, the “Painted Ladies”, never disappoint. Neither do the shades of blues off of the San Francisco bay on a beautiful day.

Old San Francisco Series 2

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2024

Moving south of SF into Silicon Valley, the blue of the water fades into the heat of technology and robotics. Colorful, yes, but much of it inorganic in nature.

KAPOW

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2019

If colors could be onomatopoeic, these are!  The colors seem to be exploding off the canvas!

New Orleans

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2021

I named this painting while only about ⅓ of the way finished. I heard the sound of trumpets and clarinets along the way.

Pointy White Foot

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2022

This painting morphed into a study of complementary and tonal colors–fuschia on red, bright green on a darker shade, blue on brown, and the always eye-catching complementary colors of red next to blue!

Coming in for a Landing

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2023

Any of the plots of farmland below would be a pleasure to parachute down to! Who wouldn’t love to land in a field of hearts?

Geometry Cloud

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2021

For months I enjoyed this painting of a rainy, cloudy, ominous sky. One day, I felt it needed a strong juxtaposition, et voilá, the addition of measured geometry provided just that.

Deconstructed Flowers 1

Acrylic on Canvas, 18" x 24", 2019

A painting of applied balanced colors.

Deconstructed Flowers 2

Acrylic on Paper, 48" x 72", 2019

I gave myself 13 minutes; black, white and citron yellow paints, and six feet of paper.

Unplanned Chaos

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 60", 2026

This painting reminded me of the blood-thirsty plant in the movie, Little Shop of Horrors…in that I kept feeding the canvas more and more paint, but it wanted even more!

Ozark

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2019

This is one of the first paintings I did when we had to hunker down during Covid-19. I just loved the dazzling effect of placing blue and reds of the same value and hue side x side.

Japanese TANSU

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2022

In a Japanese home, one might see a tokonoma–a decorative space to honor the seasons or special events through scrolls and minimal floral arrangements.

Get Well Martin Tree

Acrylic on Canvas, 60" x 72", 2025

This was painted as an enormous get well card for a friend. I wanted to paint something uplifting and one that represented renewal.

OBI TANSU VASE

Acrylic on Canvas, 24" x 24", 2026

In my childhood home, these items were often found displayed together. A juxtaposition of materials wood, silk and porcelain.

Black Circular Vase

Acrylic on Board, 18" x 24", 2025

I love the idea of capturing a thoughtfully organized floral arrangement when the flowers will be no more beautiful than they are at their peak moment.

On the Outside

Acrylic on Canvas, 24" x 24", 2024

Flowers are beautiful in all stages, even when they droop and lose vibrancy.

Calicados y Limones

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2024

The lemons and avocados were picked from the gardens of my friends’ homes in California and were brought as hostess gifts!

Flowers for Micki

Acrylic on Canvas, 24" x 24", 2022

A painting for someone who loves the color purple.

Japanese Porcelain Container

Acrylic on Canvas, 20" x 20", 2019

An homage to a Japanese utilitarian porcelain container.

Amalgam

Acrylic on Canvas, 24" x 24", 2025

This painting is an amalgam study of my three sons using only the flat side of a paintbrush.

Swan Song

Mixed Media, 24" x 24", 2025

As I drew this fellow, he looked happier and happier because swans fluttered from his mouth while singing.

View into My Kitchen

Oil on canvas board, 18" x 24", 2024

Exaggerated view of my Kitchen while painting (in oils) from my (then) dining room studio!

Viennese View

Oil on canvas board, 18" x 24", 2024

Simple room-gorgeous Viennese view in oil colors.

Marsh Road/Atherton

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2025

Marsh Road was so named because of the marshlands on the bay side of Highway 101 and the exit to take to my house. My elementary school took trips to the marshes to study the flora and fauna.

Do You Canoe?

Acrylic on Canvas, 24" x 36", 2025

Canoes in clear, beautiful water while the sun creates dazzling streaks.

Isabella Avenue/Atherton

Acrylic on Canvas, 48" x 48", 2023

Growing up, I was surrounded by the amazingly lush topography of redwoods, eucalyptus, native grasses and trees that made up the landscape of the San Francisco bay area.

Indian Princess

Metalic Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 36", 2026

This painting started out as a stooped over walking figure-very simple, few colors. It was begging to be re-imagined so I turned it upside down, doused it with gesso and started over. I love to work with metallic acrylic paint and she really reflects in the perfect light.

Roof Top Garden

Mixed Media, 36" x 36", 2021

The garden is blooming, the swimming pool is sparkling and the artwork is hanging in my dream house made of glass, concrete, and stone.
